Leo Peter LEUPPI (1893–1972), “Composition”, 1958, original three-colour lithograph (yellow, dark blue, red) enhanced with white lines; here an artist’s proof from an edition of 90 copies produced for the publisher L’Œuvre Gravée, printed on BFK Rives paper, signed and dated in the bottom right-hand corner, annotated ‘artist’s proof’ in the bottom left-hand corner. H. 44 x 64 cm, paper 55 x 76 cm Éditions L’Œuvre Gravée, Zurich/Paris Signs of damp; as is One of the founders of the Allianz group (the Swiss Abstraction and Surrealism group, formed in 1934) of modern Swiss artists. This is a geometric abstraction combining Cubist forms and rigid, constructed structures with fluid, curved lines influenced by Surrealism.
