***Ico PARISI (1916–1996), ‘751’ coffee table, for Cassina, 1962. With wooden frame and glass top. Label on the underside of the base: ‘Figli di Amedeo Cassina, Made in Italy’. H. 25 x 75 x 140 cm Designed in 1962, this table is distinguished by a particularly original geometric construction. Its wooden base consists of superimposed elements assembled using a system of uprights, cross-bars and dowels, the joints of which play a key role in the overall aesthetic. The glass or crystal top lends the composition a remarkable sense of visual lightness. Its transparency allows the wooden structure to be fully revealed, thereby transforming the table into a veritable piece of domestic architecture, where the construction itself becomes a decorative element.
