Description
Ico PARISI (1916–1996), ‘Trolley’ model “65” rolling table with removable trays, for De Baggis Cantù. Rosewood, brass and glass frame.
H. 89 x 55.5 x 73 cm
R. Lietti, Ico Parisi Design. Catalogo ragionato 1936–1960, Milan, 2017, pp. 492–493.
Ico Parisi: & architetture, catalogue edited by F. Gualdoni, Modena, 1990, p. 212.
By the same designer as lot 220, another design. Ico Parisi designed this rolling table for the De Baggis brothers in Cantù, the town of cabinetmakers in Brianza, fifteen kilometres from Como, where Parisi had his pieces made before working for the industry.
Everything about it is full of tension: two rosewood legs flaring out in a V-shape, a curved handle with a brass finial, two glass-bottomed trays that can be removed for serving, a third solid tray at the bottom, and four brass castors. The piece is designed to be wheeled from one room to another, and is shaped to be viewed from three-quarters, never from the front.
