Santino SAVOCA (born 1930), “Landscape”, oil on canvas, signed lower left. H. 38.5 x 55.5 cm Born in Vevey on 22 July 1930, Santino Savoca studied graphic design whilst devoting himself to painting, which he practised under the tutelage of the brothers Italo and Vincent de Grandi. Until 1986, he worked as a freelance graphic designer for international firms such as Nestlé, creating posters for the Loterie Romande. The Valais Tourist Board commissioned work from him, as did the city of Sion for the ‘Son et Lumières’ show in 1960. He returned to painting in 1986 and devoted himself to it exclusively from 1988 onwards.
