Description
René DROUET (1899–1993) (Attributed to). Small table with a coiled metal frame and four-legged base. Marble top. 43 x 70 x 40 cm A key figure in the late Art Deco and 1940s styles, René Drouet redefined luxury for the post-war upper middle classes. A pupil of Maurice Dufrène at the École Boulle, and later a collaborator at Jansen and Dim, he developed his own distinctive style. He favoured strong, even curvilinear architectural lines and juxtaposed wood with metal or glass.
