The Black Island
India ink and gouache on paper for an illustration intended for a puzzle that could be obtained thanks to the Tintin Stamp. Tintin and Snowy approach the ruins of Ben More's castle, while the gorilla Ranko, hidden behind the rocks, watches them. This promotional operation was launched in December 1950; the Tintin stamp was associated with a number of derivative products: puzzles, a set of cubes, decal books, coloured pencils, stationery, as well as chromos from the Voir et Savoir collection. This design was inspired by the one used for the jigsaw puzzle published in 1943 by Cartonnages Dubreucq.
