The 7 Crystal Balls
India ink on paper for an illustration showing Tintin, Snowy and Captain Haddock in a dinner jacket. A beautiful composition inspired by the large box on plate 15 of this album published in 1948 by Casterman. And a famous passage: at the Music Hall-Palace (where General Alcazar, now a dagger-thrower, and Bianca Castafiore are also performing) Haddock tries to find out how Bruno, the king of illusionists, turns water into wine. But he gets lost backstage ("Tonnerre de tonnerre de Brest!" he shouts, after taking a piece of scenery on the head) and ends his chaotic journey by falling into the orchestra pit. "Charming evening!" he concluded a little later.
