Description
Calvo: Indian ink, gouache and watercolour illustration created for an advertising poster for the "La Selle Idéale" brand in the early 1930s. A parodic composition featuring the crow and the fox from La Fontaine's famous fable, except that here the master crow is holding an "ideal saddle" in his beak. He produced several posters for the saddler Jean-François Tron. Signed (foxing, slight creases and slightly sunburnt). Size: 30 x 24.2 cm.
