Description
Jean-Jacques SEMPÉ A pragmatic groom Indian ink and blue watercolour on paper for two illustrations reproduced in the collection Rien n'est simple published in 1962 by Denoël. This elegant groom, wearing a suit and top hat, is happy to carry his wife in his arms to their house. As imposing as this ancestral home is, with its high tower and grand spiral staircase, it does have one small flaw which, in the circumstances, would discourage the most daring. Even if it risks depriving the two lovers of the sky where that magnificent crescent moon shines, the ground floor offers more pleasure than the top floor. 35 x 14.8 cm each sheet. Jean-Jacques SEMPÉ
