Description
Sculpture representing a female figure with half-closed eyes. She is wearing a headdress decorated with a volute, the shape of which suggests a strong cranial deformation. Her bust is painted red, highlighting a necklace with a medallion left in natural beige. She is wearing earrings and her face has a serene expression. Brown terracotta with glossy red slip and traces of kaolin. Chorrera culture, Ecuador 800 - 400 BC H. 40 - W. 16 - D. 14 cm Broken-glued condition with restorations Provenance : - Former Harvey Menist collection, Oudenbourg, Netherlands. - Private collection since the 1970s.
