Description
Pedestal bowl with quadripartite decoration featuring a couple of figures. Two opposing triangles decorated with lines highlight the other two, which feature a couple holding hands. Brown terracotta with cream slip and red decoration. Exterior painted red. Cuasmal/Tuza culture, Carchi/Nariño province, Ecuador/Colombia 800 - 1500 AD H. 10 cm - D. 18 cm - Condition: good. Chipped rim. The second red bowl is outlined around the perimeter with a cream band left in reserve. It is decorated with three red triangles. The outside is painted red. Brown terracotta with cream slip. Black or red decoration painted in negative and enhanced with red. Tuncahuan/Piartal culture, Carchi/Nariño province, Ecuador/Colombia 300 BC - 800 AD H. 10 cm - D. 19.5 cm - Condition: Good Provenance : - Former collection of Mr Claude Demarigny.
