Large copper alloy okimono depicting a tiger attacking a rhinoceros, Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912)
The tiger, with a double brown and chocolate patina, has its mouth open to reveal its fangs and rests its two front paws on the rhinoceros' back showing a black patina. The eyes are sulphide. It is signed under the body of the rhinoceros Mitsumoto 光元. This is a late Meiji period artist called Omori Mistumoto 大森光元 whose artist name is Kōgen 光源.
