This treatise on the art of glassmaking is by the genealogist and glassmaker-alchemist Jean Haudicquer de Blancourt (1650?–1704), known for having trafficked in forged titles of nobility. Although he presents his work as an original work, it is essentially a translation and continuation of the Arte Vetraria by the Italian master glassmaker Antonio Neri, published in 1612.
Provenance: Baudot et Lamy, with handwritten bookplates on the title page.
A fine copy, fresh and clean, with all plates intact.
