A very fine copy in a binding by Marot-Rodde, enriched with a set of illustrations in their first state, signed and dated by the artist, as well as 7 original drawings by Jean Frélaut, 6 of which are in colour, signed, and one in black and white. Paris, Les Cent Bibliophiles, 1949. Quarto (195x280 mm), green morocco, gold fillet work evoking the sails of a windmill around a wide band of coloured textured paper on the covers, plain spine decorated with the title, the author’s name and the illustrator’s name in gilt letters on red leather patches, linings and endpapers of coloured textured paper, gilt headband on leather tabs, covers and spine preserved, in a bordered slipcase (Marot-Rodde). 172 pages, 44 original etchings and drypoints by Jean Frélaut, including one on the cover and 8 as inserts. Minor scuffing to the corners. First collected edition, comprising all the texts on Holland published by Georges Duhamel between 1925 and 1948, illustrated with 44 charming original etchings and drypoints by Jean Frélaut, including one on the cover and 8 as inserts. Limited edition of 135 copies on tinted vellum; this is copy no. 95, printed for Maurice Sauzey-Gibert, enriched with a set of first-state illustrations on antique paper, signed and numbered 13/15 by the artist, as well as 7 original drawings by Jean Frélaut, including 6 in colour, signed, and one in black. A delightful copy, beautifully bound by Louise Marot (1870–1938), known as Marot-Rodde, one of the most brilliant bookbinders of the Art Deco movement.
