Paris, Gallimard/nrf, 1964. In-12 (125x190 mm), half-maroquin with red ochre bands, plain spine decorated with the author’s name and title in gilt letters, date at the foot, gilt head on endpapers, covers and spine preserved (Devauchelle). 174 pages. Minimal rubbing to the head and foot, on the fore-edges and in the corners. First edition of the transcript of 10 interviews given by Aragon to Francis Crémieux on France-Culture, from October 1963 to January 1964, a rare insight into the thinking of the ‘Fou d’Elsa’, capturing his reflections on subjects as diverse as time, punctuation, ambiguity, realism and the novel. Limited edition of 172 numbered copies; this is one of the first 43 on van Gelder Dutch vellum (No. 41) A fine copy, beautifully bound by Dechauvelle, in perfect condition inside.
