[CHAGALL]. CAIN (Julien). Chagall the Lithographer. Foreword by Marc Chagall. Notes by Fernand Mourlot. A richly illustrated volume, featuring 12 original lithographs printed by Mourlot Frères (including the dust jacket). Paris, André Sauret, 1960. In-4 volume (320 x 243 mm), bound in the publisher’s full beige cloth, with dust jacket (lithograph) and Rhodoid. 220 pages. The dust jacket is scuffed at the corners of the covers and headbands, and has two small tears on the back cover (2 cm max.). The Rhodoid cover is missing a tiny fragment at the top edge. First edition of the first volume of the catalogue raisonné of Marc Chagall’s lithographic works covering the period 1922–1957 (from number 1 to number 191). It lists 191 lithographs by Chagall, all accompanied by a faithful reproduction in colour or black and white. The book is in very good condition and complete.
