A very fine copy on vellum, containing three states of Sylvain Sauvage’s etchings, in a charming binding adorned with an original copperplate by the illustrator set into the front cover.

In-8 (170x255 mm), dark brown morocco, original copperplate by Sylvain Sauvage inlaid on the front cover within a blind-stamped frame, smooth spine decorated with blind-stamped fillets, title and author’s name in gilt lettering, marbled paper endpapers and linings, gilt headband on endpapers, covers and spine preserved.
166 pages, 20 compositions by Sylvain Sauvage, etched and stencil-coloured, including 1 frontispiece and 19 plates.
Scuffing to the edges and corners, copper on the front cover slightly detached in one corner, faint and small marginal foxing, more noticeable at the beginning of the volume.
A fine edition of this collection bringing together 9 stories by Anatole France, illustrated with 20 charming compositions by Sylvain Sauvage (1888–1948), etched and coloured by stencil.
Limited edition of 550 copies; this is one of 30 copies on handmade vellum (no. 60), containing three states of the etchings, including the pure etching.
