[LIBER AMICORUM]. Poems dated Halle 1853–1858. A German liber amicorum comprising handwritten poems, housed in a beautiful romantic book-shaped case. [Halle 1852–1858]. Oblong in-12 volume (100 x 160 mm), loose leaves in a book-shaped case in red half-leather, smooth spine decorated with blind-stamped metal tools, covers in porcelain paper, decorated with embossed and gilded scrollwork and foliage; in the centre of the front cover, an engraved and illuminated vignette set into the paper; in the centre of the back cover, a bouquet of flowers highlighted in colour; edges gilt. Inside, an embossed cover featuring birds and flowers in the same style. 28 leaves. Minor handling marks. An interesting album comprising 28 handwritten poems and dedications in German, in various handwriting styles on paper of various colours, some of which are adorned with small drawings. The vast majority are signed and dated in Halle from 1836 to 1858. The names of M. Schneider, A.
