A remarkable copy in morocco leather lined with Samblanx, one of the 20 first editions on antique Japanese paper (No. II), containing an autographed poem signed by Théodore Hannon, a list of Henri Thomas’s etchings, a breakdown of the colour plates, a striated proof and a colour etching, all enriched with five original signed drawings by Henri Thomas and two subscription forms, one of which is illustrated with an unpublished etching.

Small folio (250x325 mm), red Jansenist morocco, spine with five raised bands with blind-stamped borders, double gilt fillet on the edges, linings in the same morocco set with a gilt border and the signature "Ch. de Samblanx, 1920", red moiré silk endpapers, double endpapers, gilt edges on endpapers, covers and spine (Ch. de Samblanx, 1920).
91 pages, 12 original etchings by Henri Thomas, including 2 in colour.
Spine slightly faded, slight rubbing and browning on the leather.
First edition of these erotic poems by Théodore Hannon (1851–1916), a Belgian poet praised by Huysmans, illustrated with 12 original etchings by the Belgian painter and engraver Henri Thomas (1878–1972).
Limited edition of 120 copies; this is one of the 20 first copies on old Japanese paper (no. II), containing the autograph manuscript of the poem "À quoi bon", a proof of the engravings, the scraped proof of one of them, the colour separation proofs of the plates, as well as a colour etching printed exclusively for these copies and signed by the artist.
A unique copy, enriched with:
- a full-page colour drawing executed especially for this copy, signed by Henri Thomas, accompanied by a red chalk sketch of the same drawing,
- a portrait of the author annotated and signed by Thomas,
- four original proofs for various pieces in the collection (one original full-page drawing for the piece entitled Calice de Chair; two original signed drawings for the piece Baiser d’Avril; one original signed drawing for the piece Menu d’Amour),
- the publisher’s subscription form (2 ff.) and the subscription specimen from the Agence Dechenne in Brussels, printed in an edition of 100 copies, containing the frontispiece title page with a ‘specimen’ stamp and a poem illustrated with an unpublished colour etching in the text (3 ff.).
Elegant double-lined Jansenist binding, executed in 1920 by the Belgian bookbinder Charles de Samblanx (1855–1943).
