PROUST (Marcel). Swann’s Way. An extremely rare first edition of the first volume of *In Search of Lost Time*, in a first printing, with an attractive binding known as ‘batik’. Paris, Grasset, 1914. In-8 (125x185 mm) Bradel-style, full cardboard covered with ‘Batik’ paper featuring mauve patterns on a green background, fawn-coloured title label on a smooth spine (contemporary binding). 523 pages. Scuffing with losses at the joints, on the headbands and in the corners; spine slightly loose; margins slightly browned; pages 146 to 151 slightly faded. First edition and first printing with the typographical error in "Grasset" on the title page (marked "Grasse\t" with the last two letters misprinted), the 1913 colophon on the reverse of page 523, and the uncorrected errors on pages 45, 50, 299, 305 and 386, underlined in pencil in our copy. A rare and attractively presented copy.
