[CURIOSA]. A set of erotic cards on the circus. "As fo.?s no Colyseu" ("Seals at the Colosseum"). Extremely rare set of 10 colour cards featuring comic-pornographic images on the theme of seal training. No place, no date, circa 1900. 10 numbered cards (93 x 142 mm), cardboard-backed in the style of postcards and mounted on double perforated sheets. Captions in Portuguese; on the reverse, the words ‘Bilhete postal Portugal e Hespanha’. A risqué erotic metaphor in which the animals are depicted as phalluses, whilst the trainer, clad only in shoes in the fashion of the 1900s, wields a whip. Complete set in very good condition.
