A remarkable copy in an Art Deco binding by Louise Lévêque, enhanced with two superb colour drawings by Pierre Falké and 11 plates showing the colour breakdown of an engraving.

In-4 (240x310 mm), full green coarse-grained morocco, smooth spine adorned with an Art Deco-inspired geometric design running across the covers, composed of single and double blind-stamped lines and quadruple gilt lines, forming half-diamonds intersecting with mosaic pieces of brown morocco, wide inner border set with blind-stamped and gilt fillets framing the signature "L. Lévêque’ in the leather, a strip of brown morocco framing the linings, linings and endpapers in chocolate-coloured moiré silk, double endpapers, gilt edges on endpapers, covers and spine preserved, case edged and signed with a flap bearing the title on the back (L. Lévêque).
205 pages, 39 colour woodcuts by Pierre Falké, including one on the title page and 38 as initials, in the text and as tailpieces.
Minimal rubbing, spine worn on the slipcase.
First illustrated edition of this adventure novel about gold prospectors in the American West by Auguste Gilbert de Voisins (1877–1939), adorned with 39 delicate colour illustrations by Pierre Falké (1884–1947). This novel inspired a film of the same name directed by Alain Levent in 1972, starring Jacques Brel, Isabelle Huppert and Pierre-François Pistorio in the leading roles.
Limited edition of 115 copies on Arches vellum, this being No. 100, enhanced with two superb pencil and Indian ink drawings, highlighted with watercolour, signed by Pierre Falké (140x180 mm each) as well as 11 plates showing the colour breakdown of the engraving on page 87.
A fine copy beautifully bound by Louise Lévêque, a Parisian bookbinder active from 1933 to 1960.
