Description
[ARTIST'S BOOK] - LASCAULT (Gilbert), MONTCHOUAGNY (Marianne). Irrévélée. La Volupté voilée. A hand-painted and handwritten artist's book, of which only three copies were produced. No place, no publisher, no date (2011). Oblong in-4 volume (245 x 265 mm). Publisher’s hardback, coral-coloured cloth, title on the front cover in black lettering. Unpaginated, [29 double leaves mounted in the Japanese style]. First edition, handwritten on rice paper, signed by the author and the artist (Copy no. III / 3). This total work engages the senses to explore sensual pleasure: the intellect through Lascault’s poetic language, sight through Montchougny’s organic forms and Japanese-inspired colours, and finally touch through the silky sensuality of the medium. The unpublished text by Gilbert Lascault (1934–2022), art critic and rector of the College of Pataphysics, is interwoven here with Marianne Montchougny’s original ink compositions. The visual artist transforms the paper into a space of vibration where material and mark merge in a refined aesthetic. An exceptional, unique copy by virtue of its handwritten nature, a true dialogue between the artist’s gesture and the poet’s breath.
