Cover worn, slight browning of the margins.
First edition, published in the Belgian periodical L'Art Moderne, of this survey of new trends in art written by Henri Nocq and with a preface by Gustave Geffroy. It is divided into two parts: the first transcribes the responses of leading artists of the time (Bracquemond, Toulouse-Lautrec, Octave Uzane and Roger Marx) to a questionnaire by the author; the second is an essay on new trends in art, in which the author advocates the search for a modern style. Pretty Art Nouveau-style headbands decorate the header of each sub-section.
This copy is enhanced by an autographed letter from the author to the writer Edmond de Goncourt, as well as an autographed note by Edmond de Goncourt pasted onto the half-title page, congratulating the author on the idea for the book and thanking him for his kind dedication.
A delightful copy.
