An exceptional copy, enriched with a set of 11 lithographs by Jules Chéret, signed and annotated in Champsaur’s own hand.

One volume, In-8 (203 x 150 mm). Plum-coloured half-maroquin with period corners, spine with 5 raised bands, author, title and date in gold, floral motifs and plant motifs within gold-edged panels, double gold fillet on the covers, plum-coloured head, original illustrated cover preserved.
Unpaginated [80 pages, 9 plates by Chéret + 2 for the covers, frontispiece by Rops].
Slight rubbing to the corners.
First edition, extremely rare copy of the limited first edition of 25 copies on Japanese paper (no. 2).
First print of the illustrations: frontispiece portrait of the author lithographed by Félicien Rops. Nine plates on Japanese paper and two lithographed cover illustrations by Jules Chéret. 50 in-text illustrations, some full-page, printed in red, mauve or black, by Jules Chéret, Detouche, Galice, Grévin, Louis Morin, Félicien Rops, Lunel, Ranft, Van Beers and Willette.
Our copy is supplemented by:
a set of 11 lithographs by Jules Chéret on heavy paper, captioned in black ink.
a blank leaf serves as a handwritten title page by Félicien Champsaur with the additional note "written during the month of July 1886, at Saint-Jacut de la Mer (Brittany).
