A superb bibliophile’s copy, beautifully bound by Maylander and enhanced with two original watercolours by André Planson. [Paris]. Les Bibliophiles Franco-Suisses, 1954. One volume in-4 (350 x 270 mm). Full navy blue morocco binding, front cover adorned with the title in mosaic sea-green morocco. Spines decorated with mosaic morocco bands. Edges gilt on endpapers. Double slipcase comprising a half-morocco slipcase with overlapping flaps and a edged case. Binding signed E. & A. Maylander. VIII-152 pp. Spine of the slipcase slightly faded. Slight transfer marks opposite the engravings. A beautiful evocation of the valleys of the Oise, the Bièvre, the Yvette, etc. The volume is illustrated with watercolours by André Planson, wood-engraved by Paul Baudier (11 plates and 32 in-text illustrations). A deluxe edition limited to just 120 copies, all on large-format vellum paper, this one inscribed, printed for Mr L. A. Becq, bearing no. 7. A fine copy enhanced with two original watercolours: "The Bièvre at Gentilly" and an unpublished composition entitled "The Barley and the Remarde". Also contains a set of all the illustrations on Chinese paper. A very fine copy.
