FOUQUERAY (Charles), FARRERE (Claude). A romantic adventure of Monsieur de Tourville, Vice-Admiral and Marshal of France. A very fine edition illustrated by the marine painter Charles Fouqueray, preserved in an exceptional, highly decorative binding by Richert. Paris, Flammarion, 1930. In-4 volume (290 x 240 mm), full red morocco, wide framing on the covers composed of green morocco strips inlaid with the cardinal points and forming a central oval highlighted with fillets and dotted lines, floral motifs at the corners, foliage and gilt fillets; spine with four raised bands decorated in the same style, double fillet on the edges, decorated chasings, gilt head; covers and spine preserved (binding signed Richert). 96 pages. A fine illustrated edition featuring 40 original lithographs, including 10 full-colour plates by Charles Fouqueray.  Limited edition of only 275 copies, this one of 200 copies numbered on vellum (no. 56). Excellent condition.
