Piazza & Cie, undated [1909]. Quarto volume (305 x 240 mm). Full raspberry morocco binding, triple-line fillet framing on the covers, ribbed spine decorated with filleted panels, title and author embossed in gold, filleted medallions with fleurons at the corners, all edges gilt, edged slipcase. 214 pp., 4 unnumbered pages. Spine slightly discoloured. A barely perceptible mark on the title page. Minor snags on the spine. Deluxe edition on Japanese paper, decorated with 20 colour plates by Maurice Lalau and 20 large ornamental letters. Limited edition of 300 numbered copies, this one signed by the artist Maurice Lalau (no. 264). Text in French revised by Joseph Bédier based on medieval versions. Work awarded a prize by the Académie française. A superb copy.
