REAVEY (George). Signs of Farewell. Roger Vieillard’s personal copy of this collection of Irish surrealist poetry, printed on Japan paper and featuring an original engraving. Paris, Éditions Europa, 1935. In-12, paperback with flap cover. 22 pages; 1 engraving. Spine slightly faded, cover slightly split at the top of the spine. First edition. One of 20 numbered copies on Imperial Japanese paper with an engraving by Roger Vieillard signed in pencil (no. 4). This collection is the third published by Éditions Europa, founded three years earlier by George Reavey himself. An Irish surrealist poet and the first translator of Paul Éluard into French, Reavey established this publishing house during his stay in Paris and published, amongst other works, poems by Beckett. Bookplate of Roger and Anita Vieillard and the author’s initials at the bottom of the proof of print run. A fine copy in very good condition, formerly owned by Roger Vieillard.
