The Song of Roland in a bibliophile’s edition, illustrated by Daragnès and presented in a spectacular binding with Art Deco decoration of medieval inspiration, designed by Emile Poëncin (1889–1967). Paris, published by the Société Hippocrate et Ses Amis, 1932. Quarto volume (340 x 243 mm). Full dark brown morocco binding, decorated on the upper cover with a medieval-inspired Art Deco geometric design featuring a central escutcheon and corner cabochons in silver-coloured leather, inlaid, highlighted by blind-stamped lines and mosaic-patterned red morocco strips. Spined back, title in palladium. Edges gilt on endpapers, edged slipcase. Binding signed E. Poëncin. 4 unpaginated leaves, 192 pp., 2 unpaginated leaves. Slight rubbing to the spine and slipcase. Slight transfer marks opposite the engravings. A single edition of 135 numbered copies on Holland paper, signed by Daragnès and Bédier (copy no. 109).
