TRIOLET (Elsa). Le Monument. A rare first edition of this novel denouncing the ravages of Stalinist propaganda, printed in a run of just 25 copies on Lafuma pure-fibre vellum; this is copy No. 12. Paris, Gallimard/nrf, 1957. In-12 (120x185 mm), paperback, cover printed in black and red. 238 pages. Spine very slightly creased, slight creases at the edges of the cover. First edition of this novel by Elsa Triolet, inspired by a statue erected in Prague in homage to Stalin, whose sculptor committed suicide believing he had failed in his work. Limited edition of 25 copies on Lafuma pure-fibre vellum, the only high-quality paper used, this being No. 12. This copy features a reproduction of Paul Klee’s work “Flore sur les rochers du soleil” on flexible paper (100x130 mm). A beautiful and rare copy.
