[BRAMBILLA (Ambrogio)]. Vita et miracula sancti Francisci de Paula. Rome, Pietro de Nobili, 1584. Folio, marbled calfskin, decorated spine, marbled edges (18th-century binding). First edition of this very rare series, devoted to the life of the Calabrian hermit Saint Francis of Paola (1416–1507), founder of the Order of the Minims. It comprises an engraved title page signed by Ambrogio Brambilla (active in Rome c. 1579–1599), a portrait of the saint and 38 numbered plates, with their captions, reproducing the murals adorning the cloister of the Convent of the Trinità dei Monti in Rome. Damage to the caps and corners; portrait has been repaired. CNCE 39429 – USTC 825703.
