Description
RONDELET (Guillaume). *Methodus curandorum omnium morborum corporis humani*, in tres libros distincta. Frankfurt, the heirs of Andreas Wechel, 1592. In-8, cold-stamped sow’s hide, scrollwork and medallion portraits, central plate depicting an allegory of Justice on the front cover and the suicide of Lucretia on the back cover, spine with four raised bands, green edges, traces of fastenings (contemporary Germanic binding). First edition published in Germany of the medical works of Guillaume Rondelet (1507–1566), a distinguished physician and naturalist from Montpellier, renowned in particular for his *Natural History of Fishes*. The work had previously been published in several editions in Paris and Lyon between 1563 and 1585. A copy in a fine binding embossed with allegorical plates. A long handwritten note in Latin on the back cover and the first endpaper. Foliate stains. Durling, 3933 – Wellcome, I, 5656 – VD16: R 3005.
