MAZARINI (Giulio). David. One Hundred Discourses on the Fiftieth Psalm and its Title, Concerning the Sin, Penance and Holiness of David. Rome, Luigi Zannetti, 1600. 2 parts in one in-4 volume, soft vellum, double border of two gilt fillets, gilt fleurons at the corners and in the centres, large medallion in the centre, plain decorated spine, gilt edges (contemporary binding). First edition of the first two parts of the discourses on the Psalms by the Italian Jesuit Giulio Mazarini, entitled *David caduto* and *David dirizzato*. The third part, *David ristorato*, was published separately in the same year. The volume is illustrated with three intaglio engravings: a frontispiece title page and two full-page engravings (pp. 1 and 294). A very fine copy in gilt vellum of the period. Foxing; the frontispiece title page is slightly trimmed at the side margin; there is a discreet repair on two blank endpapers.
