Description
[PÉZENAS]. A collection of ecclesiastical lectures printed by resolution of the last Assembly of the clergy of the province of Narbonne. Pézenas, Jean Martel, 1666. In-4, soft vellum (contemporary binding). One of the first books printed in Pézenas, where the earliest dated print dates back to 1656, according to Deschamps. It was printed by Jean Martel, who was the official printer to the King, the Prince of Conti and the Bishop-Count of Agde in Pézenas before settling in Montpellier around 1688. From the library of the Bishopric of Montpellier, with a stamp. Scattered foxing and a few yellowed leaves; marginal water-stain at the end of the volume. A handwritten ex-libris crossed out in the margin of the title page. Deschamps, 1029.
