Description
[BRITTANY]. Litany of Saint Caradec, patron saint of this parish, and of Saint Corentin, patron saint of this diocese. In Loudéac, from the * Shop, 1773. 18th-century manuscript. In-8, comprising [2] folios, 25 pages, [7] blank folios; paperback, imitation binding, embroidered silk cover. A very fine and rare Breton manuscript, written in red and brown, decorated with the coat of arms of the House of Rohan on the title page, a full-page monogram on the frontispiece, and three floral headbands and two floral footers within the text, all executed in watercolour with gold highlights. It contains the litanies in Latin and French sung at Saint-Caradec for the feast of the parish’s patron saint, and those of Saint Corentin, patron saint of the Diocese of Cornouaille, whose see was at Quimper.
