[MISSAL]. Masses intended solely for the dead. Urbino, Antonio Fantauzzi, 1726. Folio, brown morocco leather, wide gilt lace, coat of arms in the centre, decorated spine, inner lace, gilt edges, silk marginal tabs (contemporary Italian binding). A luxurious and rare missal for the deceased, published by the Tipografia Albana, the printing house established in the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament in Urbino at the instigation of Pope Clement XI and his nephew, Cardinal Annibale Albani. Antonio Fantauzzi was its first director, from 1726 to 1732. The volume is printed in red and black in two columns, with musical notation, and is adorned with a frontispiece engraved by Louis Gomier after a design by Giuseppe Passeri, a border and a vignette on the title page, and a series of copper-engraved tailpieces and initials, one of which is signed by Pier Leone Ghezzi. A copy bound in morocco leather bearing the coat of arms of a prelate of the period. From the Ludovic Froissart library, with bookplate.
