Lyon, published by [...], undated. 18th-century manuscript. In-8, speckled sheepskin, decorated spine, red edges (contemporary binding). A fine handwritten copy of the regulations of the Society of the Oratory of Jesus and Mary, founded in 1611 by Pierre de Bérulle. The Rules of the Oratory (116 pp.) are followed by three articles entitled: Letter from a director of an institution to a fellow member of the Oratory who is about to be assigned a post by his superiors (48 pp.); Some useful advice for young teachers of the Oratory on how to teach their classes effectively (14 pp.); Abridged Penance, which consists [...] of considering oneself the greatest sinner (30 pp.).
