In-8, Jansenist green morocco, pink moiré linings and endpapers, framed with gilt fillets and fine bands of red mosaic morocco, double endpapers, gilt edges on endpapers, cover and spine. Second edition published by Charles Giraud. It is illustrated with two portraits of Charles Perrault, engraved by Annedouche and Rebel, 4 insert plates and 12 headpieces, all finely engraved in intaglio. A unique copy enriched with 13 original watercolours by Henry Varade. Spine slightly faded.
