[POLYTECHNIQUE (School)]. Album containing 24 photographs from the late 19th century (circa 1890). Albumin prints (114 x 82 mm) mounted on card and attached with tabs in an oblong 8vo album bound in green half-shagreen, with a plain, unmarked spine (contemporary binding). A moving album of memories by a student of the École Polytechnique, comprising 24 interior and exterior views of the school’s former buildings (on Rue Descartes, in Paris), featuring students in uniform, and scenes of student life: gatherings in the main courtyard, gymnastics, artillery and cavalry drills, apparatus, dormitories, a game of billiards, maths exercises on the blackboard, etc. Signed and dated handwritten inscription on a flyleaf: Souvenir de l’X / 1890 / A. de Perceval. Prints slightly faded, a few pinholes on the mounts.
