Description
COLUMELLA. The Twelve Books on Rural Matters, translated from Latin into French. Paris, Jacques Kerver, 1552. In-4, brown half-calf with corners (modern binding). First French edition of *De re rustica*, the greatest treatise on agriculture of Antiquity, translated by Claude Cotereau. It is adorned with an engraved title page, initials and several wood-engraved diagrams and illustrations within the text. Title page dated 1552; printing completed on 25 September 1551. Water stains; extensive repairs at the foot of the title page and at the lower corners of the last eight leaves.
