Coignard, 1725–1737. 20 quarto volumes (out of 21), marbled sheepskin, simple gilt fillet, decorated spine, red edges (contemporary binding). First edition of this important history of Rome, illustrated with plates and maps both in and outside the text. The 21st volume, published in 1748, is missing. The 20th volume, which is mismatched, has noticeably narrower margins. Damaged cap bands and some signs of wear to the bindings, foxing, water stains and yellowed pages. Sold as is.
