Description
RARE COMBINED REVOLVER AND KNIFE. A Lefaucheux-type pin-action revolver, six-shot cylinder with loading door, square-cut barrel, folding trigger, and walnut grip plates. Blade with a cutting edge along two-thirds of its length, engraved on both sides in the fuller with ‘Dumonthier à Paris – 76 Faubourg Saint Martin’. The cylinder, frame and blade are decorated with an engraved design of trailing foliage. The front sight on the barrel is engraved with ‘Invention brevetée par’. The cylinder is stamped ‘Gras’ within an oval. The cylinder and barrel are hallmarked with an ‘X’ beneath a crown. Metal blade scabbard sheathed in black shagreen. Custom-shaped carrying case. Functional mechanism (cylinder and hammer operated by the trigger). Second half of the 19th century. (Blade very sharply honed, with the honing bevel extending onto one side of the barrel; wear and small tears on the shagreen of the scabbard) Overall length of the weapon: 34 cm – Blade length: 23 cm. In accordance with firearms legislation and the Internal Security Code, this weapon is classified as Category D. Purchase and possession are permitted for adults.
