Rectangular EMBROIDERY BOX made of sandalwood. The box, featuring rich geometric decoration known as ‘Sadeli’, is made of bone, stained wood and pewter. Opens via a stepped lid on hinges. The interior is divided into seven compartments, each with a marquetry-decorated lid. The lid is fitted with a mirror set in a marquetry frame. Removable side handles. The whole piece rests on claw feet. Comes with a key. Anglo-Indian work (probably Bombay), 19th century. (Minor damage and losses) Height: 18 cm – Width: 35 cm – Depth: 24 cm.
