VIETNAM – Circa 1900
A four-legged, patinated bronze incense burner, the body openwork-carved with qilin (kì lân) supporting stylised ‘tho’ (longevity) characters, clouds and lotus flowers, the handles shaped like branches of the Buddha’s hand, the neck openwork with sapèques motifs, the lid openwork with clouds, the foot decorated with dormice, resting on an openwork wave-shaped plinth bearing the character ‘tho’ (longevity).
