A silver candlestick or torch, the base with contours, the shaft decorated with fillets and shells. PARIS 1758 (letter S). Master goldsmith: Jean-François BALZAC received in 1749. Hallmarked under the base, in the umbilicus and in the spigot. Height : 25,5 cm. Weight : 59,1g - Bibliography: Jean-François Balzac (1711- circa 1766). This leading Parisian silversmith created domestic silverware of great finesse. He notably worked for the French Royal Court. - Several of Balzac's works are held in the world's greatest museums, including the Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris and the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
