CHINA, Qing dynasty, 18th century,
A large incense burner, rectangular in shape with a base indented on all four sides, made of bronze and cloisonné enamel, decorated in polychrome with stylised taotie masks. The interior and reverse of the vessel are decorated with lotus flowers amidst foliage and plum blossoms on a turquoise background. The handles emerge from gilded bronze dragon heads, adorned with Greek fret friezes. (The bowl has minor damage, small chips, scratches and signs of wear.) Expert: Cabinet Ansas, Papillon & de Léry
