A patinated copper medal; the obverse depicts the imperial cradle surmounted by the inscription ‘The City of Paris presents to the Emperor and Empress the cradle of the Imperial Prince’, whilst the reverse depicts the newborn surrounded by an eagle, Prosperity and Abundance.

Napoléon Eugène Louis Jean Joseph Bonaparte (1856–1879), Imperial Prince, known as Louis-Napoléon, was the sole heir of Napoléon III and Empress Eugénie.
