A substantial drop-front secretary desk with a stepped section, made of walnut veneer and inlaid fruitwood, featuring two large drawers; a drop-front revealing a compartmentalised interior; and an upper stepped section with eight drawers and a central door. The drawers are fitted with a locking mechanism. Rhenish or Baden work in the German Baroque style, probably from southern Germany, late 19th century, circa 1880–1900. Numerous old labels of provenance and trade preserved inside (Strasbourg, Karlsruhe, Kippenheim, etc.). Dimensions: H. 200 cm. Condition: Signs of wear, cracks and routine restorations; sold as is.
