SAMSON, in the style of the Compagnie des Indes, 19th century
A porcelain service with polychrome decoration featuring the arms of France and the Collar of the Orders of Saint Michael and the Holy Spirit, with a rim featuring a gilded and red frieze adorned with intertwined lotus flowers and cartouches bearing two ‘L’s’ back-to-back. It comprises 15 pieces:
- 1 large round dish (diameter: 40.5 cm),
- 2 round dishes (diameter: 29 cm)
- 12 plates (diameter: 24 cm) in porcelain
(1 chip on 1 plate)
This service is similar to a Jingdezhen porcelain service commissioned by Louis XV around 1730, one dish from which is held at the Musée de la Compagnie des Indes in Lorient.
